    Chemical imaging: Antibiotic interaction on individual bacterial cells with unprecedented resolution

    An interdisciplinary team of researchers led by Dr. Daniela Täuber in Jena has successfully mapped the local chemistry and structure of the antibiotic interaction on the surface of individual bacterial cells with a resolution of a few nanometers using the model system Bacillus subtilis and vancomycin.

    Ultrafast light, maximum precision: Jena researcher receives award at UFO XIV

    At the 14th Ultrafast Optics Conference (UFO XIV), held from 5 to 10 October 2025 in Furnas on São Miguel Island (Azores, Portugal), Daniel Santiago Penagos Molina from the research group X-ray Spectroscopy and Microscopy at the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP) of the University of Jena received second place in the Student Talk Award competition.

    Beyond classical resolution limits: Dr Wilhelm Eschen receives the Dr.-Ing. Siegfried Werth Prize

    Dr Wilhelm Eschen, former doctoral student at the Institute of Applied Physics at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, was awarded the prestigious Dr.-Ing. Siegfried Werth Prize at the 23rd Alumni Day on 20 June 2025 was awarded.
