An interdisciplinary team of researchers led by Dr. Daniela Täuber in Jena has successfully mapped the local chemistry and structure of the antibiotic interaction on the surface of individual bacterial cells with a resolution of a few nanometers using the model system Bacillus subtilis and vancomycin.
At the 14th Ultrafast Optics Conference (UFO XIV), held from 5 to 10 October 2025 in Furnas on São Miguel Island (Azores, Portugal), Daniel Santiago Penagos Molina from the research group X-ray Spectroscopy and Microscopy at the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP) of the University of Jena received second place in the Student Talk Award competition.
