Visit from Braunschweig

Impressed by the research opportunities thanks to the variety of topics in research and the best laboratory equipment

50 physics students from the Technical University of Braunschweig visited our institute as part of their excursion lasting several days. We were asked to provide an insight into our research and professional life, which we were very happy to do.

We welcomed them in the auditorium of the Abbe Center of Photonics (ACP) with crisp introductions to the various fields of work (many thanks to Dr Thomas Siefke, Dr Daniel Richter, Dr Robert Klas, Dr Dongmei Liu). The Lichtwerkstatt (Johannes Kretzschmar) also presented itself in a somewhat less technical depth, but impressively diverse manner.

Due to the limited time available, only brief visits to the laboratories of the Ultra Optics group at the IAP and the Fibre & Waveguide Lasers and Nano & Quantum Optics groups at the ACP were possible. After a final look at the light workshop, our guests were unanimous in their verdict:

A lot of new and interesting things could be discovered here with us. The modern infrastructure with world-class equipment in the laboratories also left a thoroughly very positive impression.

We are pleased that we were able to convey that studying and research in Jena and especially here at our faculty and Institute IAP is very attractive!
