Why you should study at our faculty

A Master’s degree at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy (PAF) of Friedrich Schiller University (FSU) Jena offers a wide range of specializations—from photonics and quantum science to astrophysics—in a cutting-edge research environment. Close collaboration with leading institutes such as Fraunhofer, Helmholtz, and Max Planck provides students with hands-on experience and strong international connections.

Activities at Friedrich Schiller University and in Jena

Additionally to our relaxed work and study environment at PAF, the FSU offers many options to switch things up from your work on your studies. For example, the FSU offers sport courses (UNISPORT Jena) and various cultural events to participate and exchange.

Jena, too, offers lots to discover. Given the abundant nature in and around the city, you can go on hikes or go swimming in the Saale or in the lakes nearby. If you want to get an overview of the city, the FSU provides a 360° view of the city and a list of activities.
