How to apply

Application period:

summer term: 1st December - 15th January

winter term: 1st April - 15th July

Application requirements:

Your need a first academic degree in the field of physics or a related field. Applicants applying for the M.Sc. Physics programme, have to show either a German proficiency proof  at the level DHS-2 or  good English proficiency at the level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or a verification that the first physics degree has been acquired in a study programme taught in English.

Application documents:

  • Letter of motivation, in which you describe your intention to pursue graduate studies in the field of your choice (500 words at maximum and to be typed)
  • Curriculum vitae including complete contact information, educational background, and professional experience
  • Your secondary school leaving certificate (baccalauréat, high school diploma, etc.)
  • All previous university degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, etc.) if available before the application deadline - otherwise, please make a note of the anticipated date of issue
  • The corresponding transcripts for each degree, including your cumulative grade point average (minimum requirement is the proof of credits of the term before last)
  • For foreign Bachelor degrees: Proof of the grading system used by the university
  • Language proficiency proof: a completed former academic degree of a study programme taught in English or a statement of your English skills as a native speaker or English proficiency proof at level C1
  • APS certificate: applicants with a Chinese, Mongolian or Vietnamese degree
  • College Entrance Examination: Iran (since 2011 no college entrance examination, but pre-university year), Republic of Korea (Scholastic Ability Test)
